FAQ's - Lip Blush

WHAT IS LIP BLUSH?

Lip Blushing is a form of Semi- Permanent makeup. It can help enhance and even out natural colour or add colour if you are lacking any pigment. Your lips will look darker and more like lipstick on the first day and soften as they heal to become a subtle, natural looking lip tint. Apply a little gloss or balm and your lips are perfectly kissable!

EXPECTING DRAMATIC RESULTS?

If you are looking for a permanent retro red shade or super sharp lines, this is not the treatment for you. The result is subtle.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Results will always vary from person to person, after your initial session and the touch up.

Your results should last belween 2-5 years. Additional touch ups may be required depending on the person and look desired. Permanent makeup ink is not the same as body art ink and by design it does not last as long as body art ink. Other elements which could speed up the fading process includes health and lifestyle factors such as smoking, sun exposure, iron deficiency, oiliness and exfoliation, all of which could speed up the fading process.

WHY IS A TOUCH-UP IMPORTANT?

The best resulls come from a two step process. Touch ups allow your therapist to analyze how the colour regenerates beneath the skin and add in areas that may have healed incorectly. Healed results are unique to each client and we do our best to create a consistent experience.

Touch ups are beneficial for layering the pigment for more saturation and must be completed within a 4-6 week from your initial appointment.

HOW DO YOU WORK OUT WHAT COLOUR IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Given the semi-permanent nature of the procedure, its important to carefully consider your colour with your therepists and avoid any hues that will look dated in a few months time. Seasonal or trend shades are a big no. Have a play with some of the lipsticks in your collection and start thinking about which ones are more flattering on your skin.

YOUR BROW STUDIO THERAPIST WILL HELP YOU:

  • Identify your undertone eg yellow or pink undertone.
  • Understand which shades go with which tone.
  • Advise you on which colours suit your skin colouring eg: pale skin, dark skin, olive skin etc.

CAN I STILL USE LIPSTICK?

Your new lip tattoo is designed to act as a beautiful base but it doesn't mean you should throw out your lippy collection at all. You may need to experiment to see how your colours look over your new base colour but you can still create your own looks with lipstick over the top.

DOES LIP BLUSHING HURT?

Pain levels vary from person to person. Strong medical grade topical anaesthetic cream is used before and during your procedure to keep you as pain free as possible.

MY LIPS ARE NATURALLY UNEVEN, CAN THIS BE FIXED WITH LIP BRUSHING?

Lip blush can help soften the appearance of asymmetry to fix it but depending on the degree of unevenness, we would suggest fillers. We don't work outside the lip border.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MY APPOINTMENT?

First, there is a pout prep. A topical aesthetic is applied to pre-numb the lips for 20 minutes. Afterwards, your therapist will draw the shape of the "new" lips so that you can evaluate and make any changes. Once you are happy with the shape, the process begins.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

The procedure takes about 2 hours. The consultation and prep work take a good portion of that time.

CAN I BOOK MICROBLADING/OMBRE POWDER BROWS/LASH LINE AND LIP BLUSH ON THE SAME DAY?

Absolutely! But keep in mind that each session does take approximately 2-3 hours so you'll need to plan to be at the Studio for most of the day.

LIP BLUSH OR LIP FILLERS. WHICH COMES FIRST?

If you're considering both lip fillers and lip blush, it's best to start with lip blush. This procedure outlines and shapes your lips, providing a helpful guide for the lip filler treatment. Additionally, lip blush lasts longer than fillers, ensuring a more natural look as your lips evolve.

WHEN CAN I GET MY LIP FILLERS?

Wait until your lips have completely healed from lip blush, which typically takes 4-6 weeks. The surface heals in 2 weeks and a touch-up will be required. It is safe to schedule lip fillers about 2 months after lip blush.

IF MY LIP FILLERS WHERE DONE FIRST, WHEN CAN I DO MY LIP BLUSH?

After getting lip fillers, allow your lips to heal and settle for 3-4 weeks before considering lip blush. Never rush one procedure immediately after another, as it can harm your skin and yield unsatisfactory.
